Memorial Day walking tours will be held Monday May 31, 2021 in Bellefonte, Pa. The tours are designed to honor and remember veterans who died serving in the U.S. Military from Centre County across different wars/conflicts.
The tours are FREE but you must RSVP to attend at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tours are also capped at approximately 15 people to ensure social distancing and will maintain Pennsylvania's COVID-19 guidelines.
When: The first tour is at 9:00 am and the second is at 10:00 am. Each tour is approximately 45 minutes. Both tours are Monday 5/31/21.
Where: It will start at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial and Curtin Statue in front of the Centre County Courthouse (see map). From the courthouse, the tour will travel down High Street and finish at the Bellefonte Train Station (see map). A public parking lot is also behind the train station.
Cost: The tours are FREE with any donations going to veterans at Camp Breac (Veteran Service Programs). Camp Breac and the Spring Creek House are designed to support our military, veterans, the conservation and protection of resources, and the arts & education in our community. You can learn more about Camp Breac at https://campbreac.com/.
RSVP: Again, please RSVP via email at email@example.com stating the time you would like to attend, then Matt will reply to confirm your RSVP for the tour.
Children/content: These tours are intended for general/adult audiences and are not specifically designed for kids. That being said, kids are always welcome and are free under the age of 3. Keep in mind that most of the stories involve military action and death. All wars/conflicts will not be discussed due to time constraints.
Tour Safety: Masks should be worn especially if/when/where proper social distance cannot be maintained. Practice social distancing. The walking tours are outside and follow public sidewalks and streets. Some of the sidewalks may be uneven.
Weather: All efforts will be made to do the tour as scheduled (with umbrellas if necessary). However, if there is a thunderstorm or it’s just too bad, you will be contacted at least one hour in advance to cancel or reschedule the tour. Look for an email or social media post if the weather is appearing to be an issue to stay informed. If you don’t hear anything within one hour of the tour, it’s on!
