Season 3, Episode 3: Join Local Historia as they explore the Rattlesnake Pike in Happy Valley! This section of the Philadelphia-Erie Turnpike is full of surprises. In this episode, we find historic mile markers, discuss local trails, and go hunting for the foundations of the old Rattlesnake Hotel. This completes Season 3 of Hidden Happy Valley, which focused on transportation history. Hidden Happy Valley is a series of short virtual tours that explore the lesser-known history behind some of our favorite spots across the region. Season 3, Episode 2: This episode has Matt and Dustin on another adventure as they work with the Bellefonte Historical Railroad Society to learn more about the historic railroad systems in Happy Valley. Join Local Historia as they experience the history of railroads and ways that folks can enjoy and experience it too. We feature remnants of railroad history around the Centre County area, and explore former tunnels and trails left behind by the railroads that threaded through Central PA. We also ride on some of the railways that continue to serve the area! All aboard, as we travel across Happy Valley to see some tunnels, bridges and much more! Our Walter L. Main circus train wreck video really connects viewers with local history in unique ways. We visit the wreck site, grave sites, walk the former railroad path, track down the legendary tiger skull and hold artifacts from the 1893 wreck like horse bones. We also use historic photographs and newspapers to discuss the tragic wreck's impact on people, animals and the town of Tyrone!
