Join Local Historia and The Brew Coffee and Tap for a “Taste of History” in downtown Tyrone! This walking tour will highlight many of Tyrone’s historic locations and influential residents, including the Arlington and City Hotels, the Wilson Theater, E.J. Pruner, and the Burleys! Historical photos will also be used to catch a glimpse of Tyrone’s past in these locations.
The “Taste of History” walking tours include a sample of the host merchant's products. Take a walk, travel back in time, soak it all in. Tour participants are encouraged to visit The Brew Coffee and Tap before or after the tour as well!
Tour tickets will be capped to ensure social distancing and follow Pennsylvania's COVID-19 guidelines. These spots will fill up fast!
Dates/Times (walking tours are approximately 1 hour):
April 17, 2021 (Saturday)
April 18, 2021 (Sunday)
Cost/Tickets: $15.00 per ticket. Price includes a small beverage (non-alcohol). You must purchase your tickets prior to the tour to attend.
Note: online ticket purchases ask for shipping info but there are no physical tickets and the shipping is N/A. Your email confirmation is sufficient for your ticket.
Where: The tours will start and finish at The Brew Coffee and Tap located at 25 West 10th Street, Tyrone, PA 16686 (see map here).
Parking: Tour goers are encouraged to park in the public Logan Avenue lot, directly behind Gardners Candies (see map here). Metered parking is only enforced Monday through Friday in Tyrone!
Children: These historical tours are intended for general/adult audiences and are not specifically designed for kids. That being said, kids are always welcome and are free under the age of 3.
Tour Route: The walking tours are outside and follow public sidewalks and streets. Some of the sidewalks may be uneven.
Tour Safety: Masks should be worn especially if/when/where proper social distance cannot be maintained. Practice social distancing.
Weather: All efforts will be made to do the tour as scheduled (with umbrellas if necessary). However, if there is a thunderstorm or it’s just too bad, you will be contacted at least one hour in advance to cancel or reschedule the tour. Look for an email or social media post if the weather is appearing to be an issue to stay informed. If you don’t hear anything within one hour of the tour, it’s on!
