Boalsburg Cemetery Lantern Tours:

Join the Pennsylvania Military Museum and Local Historia on Saturday, August 2, from 7PM-8PM for The Vietnam War Remembered: A Cemetery Lantern Tour. History professor Jared Frederick will guide patrons through the Boalsburg Cemetery, highlighting stories of veterans and their families. All tours begin at the “Honors to the Fallen” monument (“the Three Ladies Statue”) located at 305 North Church Street, Boalsburg. Attendees are expected to dress appropriately for the weather and have proper footwear due to uneven terrain. The tour will happen rain or shine, unless deemed unsafe by staff. In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the program will be canceled or rescheduled. If so, participants will be contacted via email or social media at least one hour in advance. Tickets can only be purchased through Local Historia. Admission is $15 per person and all sales are final. Proceeds benefit the Pennsylvania Military Museum.

Parking: Parking is an option in front of the Pennsylvania Military Musuem using the main entrance off of Boal Avenue. 


Cemetery Lantern Tours and Times (click on tour below for tickets):

  • Saturday, August 2, at 7PM for Vietnam Remembered: A Cemetery Lantern Tour 
  • Saturday, October 24, at 6PM for Honors to the Fallen: A Cemetery Lantern Tour (Coming Soon)


Payment Details: Purchase your tickets prior to the event to reserve your spot, all sales are final. Online payment can be made by traditional bank cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Our tickets can only be purchased from Local Historia (via the Local Historia Square link above). Do not accept offers of “tickets” from anyone else. Name and email confirmation will gain entry to the event (there are no physical tickets). Proceeds will benefit the Pennsylvania Military Museum.


Tour Route/Safety: The tours are outside and follow public sidewalks and cemetery grounds. Some of the sidewalks and cemetery grounds may be uneven. Always be alert for street traffic. Lanterns and flashlights are welcome.


Weather: All efforts will be made to do the tour as scheduled (with umbrellas if necessary). However, if there is a thunderstorm or it’s just too bad, you will be contacted at least one hour in advance to cancel or reschedule the tour. Look for an email or social media post if the weather is appearing to be an issue to stay informed. If you don’t hear anything within one hour of the tour, it’s on!
