Local Historia presents “A Victorian Walk in the Park”
Bring your lanterns or candlelights for an evening walking tour full of the historic and holiday spirit of Christmas. Talleyrand Park and the Waterfront area during the holidays are the perfect setting for an enchanting walk back in time. This walking tour will feature locally sourced stories from the Victorian Era (1837-1901). Period clothing is encouraged! Bundle up and we will keep your heart warm with stories ranging from history to mystery! Also in keeping with Christmas traditions, a ghost story or two might make an appearance as well. Last but not least, the tours will end at the Gamble Mill for a project update from the owner!
Cost: Tickets are $12 each. Tours/tickets will be capped to ensure social distancing and to follow Pennsylvania's COVID-19 guidelines. These spots will fill up fast!
When: December 11 - 12, 2020 (two tours each night)
Where: Talleyrand Park, tour will start at the George Grey Barnard statue of Abraham Lincoln. See Google Map link for exact location. From the Train Station, cross the suspension bridge over Spring Creek then go left at the fork and follow the sidewalk to Lincoln.
Parking: There is a public parking lot between CVS and Bonfatto's (W. High Street and S. Potter St.), there is also plenty of street parking near Talleyrand Park.
Tour Safety: Bring a lantern or flashlight. Masks should be worn especially if/when/where proper social distance cannot be maintained. If interested, read more about the Universal Face Coverings Order.
Weather: All efforts will be made to do the tour as scheduled. However, if there is significant snow, rain or a thunderstorm and it’s just too bad, you will be contacted at least one hour in advance to cancel or reschedule the tour. Look for an email or social media post if the weather is appearing to be an issue to stay informed. If you don’t hear anything within one hour of the tour, it’s on!
